June 20 Open Line

The world of sin is a destructive world. It’s a world we’re all born in, only my God and the blood of Jesus can save us from this sin. with all this drama in Roodhouse, it makes me glad that my family and I will be moving out of this podunk town by the end of this month. Those of you staying, have fun with those higher than normal utility bills, and the empty promises and big spending of the mayor. “Our youths love luxury. they have bad manners, contempt for authority. they show disrespect for their elders and love to chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. they no longer rise when their elders enter the room. they contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up food, and tyrannize teachers.” Socrates, c. 400 B.C. The youth has always been vilified by the elderly. they were saying the same things when you were young, I’m sure. I’m sure those who put on the Sangamon County fair cut their very own throats by raising the admission to $20. I can almost assure you this factor kept many people away from it. once you figure in gas and eats a person is easily over $100 bill if they have a family. If the state can do without so many state police to put them on state fair duty, what do we need with them the rest of the year? why do they have so many on duty at the fair? Is this just a paid vacation for cops? well good for you as parents if you raised three kids and they all work. that isn’t the norm though for the last three generations, which are dumbed down and their work ethic is lacking. You are an exception. Oh and by the way, I wouldn’t get too excited on having honor roll or valedictorians in the family. Today the standards for education have all been lowered so no one fails. Check your facts and research this. The majority today are dumbed down and lazy. By the way, I worked for my Social Security and paid into the system your kids are not paying my way. Morgan County, we voted for a 1 percent sales tax raise in Cass County for the schools and the county with the promise of a real estate tax break. they got tax, we got nothing. answer regarding property taxes: People without children pay for the same reason people pay for a fire department even though they have not suffered a home fire. We all know that kids can be very obnoxious and at times even real brats, but isn’t it a bit much and even illegal to advertise in the newspaper that a nearby town is raising money for a worthy cause by holding a “brat fry”? If Gillis had nothing to hide then he should have let the mayor read his Facebook messages to the council rather than quit. give us a break and do what Rep. Weiner did Garner and resign. to the individual who uses the word “Repukes” and says Bush caused all the problems our nation is facing, your fellow Democrats had from January ‘09 to January ‘11 to reverse all those no-good Bush policies. Democrats controlled the House, the Senate, and the White House. but things only got worse. Unemployment went up, federal spending went up, our nation plunged further and further into debt, and now we are facing back to back recessions. What do you have to say about that, you Dumbocrat? I’ll vote for Steve Patterson if he brings the dispatching of police back to Beardstown like it should be and hires people who know Beardstown streets and the businesses instead of these don’t care attitude Cass County dispatchers good ole Bucky got for us. People of Beardstown, how you like those Cass County dispatchers so far? I wish we still had them in Beardstown it was awfully nice to talk with people you know and who know you and who cared. These Cass County dispatchers are just there for a paycheck. I really don’t think Steve Patterson was all that well-liked when he was the chief of police in Beardstown. I don’t think he’d get but maybe about a third of the vote of the residents of Beardstown but I could be mistaken but I really think not. I for one am concerned about the emotional and mental stability of Steve Patterson running for mayor and if elected the pressure maybe to great for him. I am basing this on his resigning as police chief here in Beardstown after being assaulted at the police station. If the pressure becomes to great for him he’ll quit, he’s done it before. The election for mayor of Beardstown isn’t for two years yet isn’t it a little premature to announce one is running for mayor? I kinda of think it is. I am sure there will be others who run besides Steve Patterson and may the best man win. Wipe your eyes Virginia people. You people in Virginia are such cry babies it is a shame to even be known that the town exists. What wimps you people are. This comes from Ashland people. Michelle Obama, her daughters and several other members of the Obama family are going on a vacation to Africa, at taxpayer expense of course. Our nation is over $14 trillion in debt but this liberal administration from Chicago wants to spend, spend, spend. No wonder Obama says the wealthy should pay more in taxes. I do not know this lady Terry Garner but by the sound of things I don’t think I would want to know her. Sounds like to me if she would resign, Roodhouse would probably accomplish good things for Roodhouse. just saying. The ADA laws are federal laws and most definitely can be enforced by local police in any community not just Chicago. I know, I went to school in Chicago and learned this. Maybe you should go back to school also. I saw on the WICS Channel 20 out of Springfield that Memorial Medical Center got an excellence in nursing award and is one of the nation’s best hospitals for care given by nurses. If this is so we are in big, big trouble people. they couldn’t even give me my blood pressure pills on time over there they are short staffed and too many patients for one nurse. I heard every excuse as to why my blood pressure was 199/100. I have extremely high blood pressure and have since 13 years old. I have to have my medications on time or it goes too high. I was informed by the nurse they only give medications twice a day usually at 9 a.m. and at 9 p.m. I take my blood pressure meds three times daily so they just cut that out and then wondered why my blood pressure was high. they also do not listen to the patient. I told them give me my blood pressure pills and it will go down. they just started telling me reasons it was high which as soon as I received my medications on time again, which was after my stay. It went right back down to a normal pressure. There nursing could’ve caused me to have a stroke or heart attack. sorry so long, but this should be told so others can know about the quality of nursing in this country if Memorial is one of the best in the nation. One way to help pay down the deficit is to eliminate the earned-income credit. I know several folks who get earned-income credit every year and they get back more than they paid in. Expiration dates on food are a joke. The only place that will tell you the true pick date are local farmers markets. Did you ever see a pick date on a sack of grocery store apples? The last two times I went to Perkins, I left still hungry. In my book, they failed by getting cheap on food. When I was at the bank in Arenzville, I heard that quite a few Virginia families are pulling their kids out and sending them to other school districts. so, maybe this co-op sports won’t be such a big deal after all. why isn’t the City of Beardstown spraying for mosquitos already and why are those swamps out past highway 125 and the boulevard road not filled in with dirt or drained? Those are nothing but mosquito-, gnat- and snake-breeding havens. Waiting 30 minutes for a meal at Perkins isn’t ridiculous. The food was very good and the menu. I do agree with you, however, on service. We once walked in and the waitress said “I’m going on break you’ll have to wait we have no one to seat you.” We went and sat down any way. The waitress came back about 15 to 20 minutes later and asked us if we’d please move. I told her no we will not and we’d like our menu so we can order. that was the last time I ate at Perkins. Food was good, service was lousy at best. Three cheers for the idiots in Open Line Online today. to whomever wrote in the June 12 Open Line about being a homosexual and out-of-wedlock children and how minors are the ones causing problems, think before you speak. There are so many contradictions in the Bible that I could use them to fill the empty space in your head where your brain should be. There is scientific evidence that supports the belief that people are born that way. Children out-of-wedlock? really? Shouldn’t we be worried about all of the meth and crack that is in Jacksonville first? that seems like a more important issue to me. and as for the minors being the culprits behind everything, what about 99 percent of the people who get arrested for dealing drugs? they are grown adults that have no desire to work for a living and don’t care about the people’s health they endanger. Maybe you should take a look at your own generation before you pass judgment on others. Oh, there you go. Another thing, you Bible thumpers do what the Bible tells you not to. Only God should judge people. Not your self-centered, egotistical absurd self. White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley took heat from business executives Thursday for the Obama administration’s regulatory expansions. Daley also said he didn’t have any good answers for some of what President Obama is doing and expressed frustration about the bureaucratic stuff that’s hard to defend. “sometimes you can’t defend the indefensible,” Daley said at a National Association of Manufacturers meeting. Rumblings of dissent in the camp. “see, what you all need to know about the president you helped to elect is that when it comes to the people he meets, Barack has a memory like a steel trap,” she (Michelle) told her eager audience at a sold-out breakfast fundraiser at the Claremont Hotel in Berkeley, Calif., on June 14. Only for names, all else belongs to TOTUS (Teleprompter of the United States). Steel trap, gutsy. The jellyfish known as the 117 Board of Education can’t enforce a policy they put in place three months ago. How are they going to re-district? Maybe if they could there wouldn’t be two schools full of students failing so miserably. I like how everyone seems to bash and run down the people who are receiving Link cards and welfare. The biggest welfare recipients are the politicians and government workers in this country milking the taxpayers and the government hasn’t got a clue of how to solve any of our problems today. they are all college educated idiots stealing the hardworking man’s money, that is just plain and simple wrong. The Beardstown director of public works, Todd Harmeyer, hiring his stepson to work for the city. mr. Harmeyer should hire someone who needs the work instead. There are a lot of unemployed with families who could really use the job. Let’s see, Romney’s state was number 47 in job creation and would have been 48 if Katrina hadn’t happened. Pawlenty left his state with a $6 billion deficit and created zero to very few jobs, number 3 on your trifecta: Bachmann the deficit hawk wants to lower the tax rates for corporations to zero adding trillions more to the deficit and she wants to get rid of the EPA so those of you that don’t care about clean air or water for yourselves or your kids and grands. She’s your girl. I hear you’ve got more wannabes coming out of the woodwork let’s see who can out-dumb this bunch of dummies. Batter up. Here’s a fact check for you Obama bashers: There’s been 15 straight months of job growth resulting in 3.3 million jobs saved or created. We were losing jobs when he took office. to keep giving the rich more and more tax cuts adds trillions to the deficit. There’s your record spending. He saved the private sector auto industry thus saving millions of jobs. Oil drilling is up in this country by 11 percent. I really don’t care if you believe what I said or not, check it out for yourself. but, just because you choose to drink the Kool-Aid and lap up every spoon fed lie you hear from your party and it’s yap machine fox news, don’t waste your time trying to recruit the rest of us it, will never happen. Didn’t Repukes run on the promise of creating jobs? yet since they’ve taken over Congress, not one jobs bill has been passed. but thousands of jobs have been cut since they started ripping the rug out from under the middle-class and poor with their spending cuts. You get what you vote for. anyone who would post who they are voting for in the Beardstown election this early and all the candidates have not yet announced they are even running yet would be a blatant bow down and suck up a member of the white-shoe-wearing crowd of metropolitan Beardstown. I attended several different area high school football games last year and wonder how these teams would be able to have a quality practice without the kids who never seem to get any game experience. All the teams seem to use nearly the same kids on offense and defense while the others wait for an injury or an insurmountable lead to get in the game. just wondering where the local programs would be if the bench warmers decided to spend their time pursuing other interests instead of the city wasting money on surveys, they could use that money and replace one whole section of old sewer pipe. Rand Paul wasn’t in the debate. Know what you’re talking about before making a comment. New blood for Jacksonville City Hall. Those in office need to go. The 2013 election is non-partisan and maybe, just maybe, we can elect someone who will spend at least 40 hours a week working for the people. The U.S. needs to withdraw from the UN and its various programs before Obama and Clinton cede what little remains of our Sovereignty to “the new world order.” I think it is amusing that an alderman can send messages from his own computer to a member of the Roodhouse PD then resign and idiots blame the mayor for his actions. Blind stupidity that is for sure. Wait until mrs. Stice has her case in July I am sure that some of you will blame him for the outcome. I would argue that the mayor may have been the shooter on the grassy knoll as well in 1963 and helped to hide Elvis too. from a previous poster: “Limbaugh’s comment that any one of the Republican morons participating in Monday’s debate would make a better president than Obama just shows how incredibly stupid rush is.” Gallup reported: Forty-four percent of registered voters say they are more likely to vote for “the Republican Party’s candidate” and 39 percent for Barack Obama in the 2012 presidential election, according to Gallup’s June update. No-name vs. Bam. No-name in the lead. If a vote for Patterson is a vote for the same Walters agenda, I’ll cast my vote for him proudly. Post from 6/17/11 wondering where the idea that Al Gore invented the Internet originated. It came from his own mouth 3/9/99 CNN’s “Late Edition.” Gore said, “During my service in the U.S. Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet.” now you have your answer. Thankfully, it is easy to spot the political party talking points on Open Line by their length. they are easy to ignore. happy Father’s Day to all who qualify. If more police officers are held accountable for their actions, maybe these cocky police officers will realize that they are no better than anybody else. Crime in Jacksonville is caused by many factors. Enforcement of the laws is the responsibility of the police. Emulating TV cops in a para-military way is not an effective means of enforcement. Loose the attitude, sunglasses and shaved heads. Is it too much to ask that politicians on both sides stop wasting their time with stupid, eighth-grade humor and start paying attention to their actual jobs? Stop it with the dumb jokes. Stop taking pictures of your junk. Stop acting like morons. This is 2011 … everything you do is going to end up on the Internet, so act like responsible adults and do your jobs. so you go to a couple county board meetings and local sporting events, that don’t make you knowledgeable enough to run for mayor of Beardstown. What real leadership role does mr. Patterson have? What skills does he have to run Beardstown? well, yes, that would be the same Steve Patterson we are talking about and I don’t believe the people who’ve bashed him in Open Line are telling lies. This guy is a complete phony. You’d have to really know him though like we do and there is more than just one person commenting about him in Open Line. I’m very sure of that. so the saying goes, if five people say the same thing it just may be true. can someone tell me why they can run the interstate through Arenzville? It would be six miles shorter. to the individual who said Democrats are the party of morals just because Weiner resigned, Clinton didn’t resign. These folks that think austerity, cutting jobs at every level, will help the economy are wrong. It will push us over the financial cliff to depression. Remember Hoover and his failed policies?
